Warriors Graphic Novels
by Erin Hunter

From Amazon: “For generations, four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest. But the cats of ThunderClan are in grave danger, and sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day. In the midst of this turmoil appears a house cat named Rusty—who may turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.”
My daughter absolutely loves this series. She is excited to read before she goes to bed and she always wants to share what is going on in the stories. I would highly recommend this series for cat lovers, adventure lovers, and those that prefer graphic novels over novels.
Treasure Hunters
by James Patterson

My son has been flying through this adventurous book series lately. I picked out the first book at our local library, knowing that James Patterson was a great writer, and he was immediately hooked. I ended up buying the whole nine book series for his 11th birthday. He has told me, “I just can’t put it down at night, I just want to keep reading!”
Here is a synopsis from Amazon:
“The Kidd siblings have grown up diving down to shipwrecks and traveling the world, helping their famous parents recover everything from swords to gold doubloons from the bottom of the ocean. But when their parents disappear on the job, the kids are suddenly thrust into the biggest treasure hunt of their lives.”
The siblings travel all over the world to places like Egypt, Moscow, and Washington D.C. Try the first one today!
The Alpha Wolves of Yellowstone
By Rick McIntyre

The author, Rick “McIntyre has recorded over 100,000 sightings of wild wolves in Yellowstone, more sightings than any other person in history at any location, and has watched wolves for more than 8,000 days in the park. He has written over 12,000 pages of field notes on his wolf observations, making him one of the world’s foremost experts on wild wolf behavior.” (Amazon Bio) My son, has read all 5 books and recommends it to those who love them and/or wants to have a better understanding of wolves. These books will immerse you into the daily lives of Yellowstone wolves. “You will feel connected to the wolves after reading these books” said my son. He also said that if you are “anti-wolf” this series would be good to read because you will have a better understanding of their behaviors and why they do them.
Narwhal and Jelly Books
by Ben Clanton

The Narwhal and Jelly Books are about a friendly and super positive narwhal that LOVES waffles. He becomes friends with a cynical jellyfish that finds him a little ridiculous at times but warms up to his ideas eventually. This graphic novel series follows their adventures in the ocean. These books made my kids smile and laugh out loud. They are great as a read aloud and for beginning readers. The pictures are simple, cute, and show a lot of expression. The books also include some fact pages about various ocean creatures that appear in the books. Try out these books today and have your kids fall in love with Narwhal and all the fun ocean creatures.
*There are currently 10 books in the series. Pictured above from left to right, book 1, 6, & 8.
Dog Man & Cat Kid Comic Club
By Dav Pilkey

Dog Man has been a popular series in our household for a few years. I would even say this series started my son’s love of reading. The books are easy to read with their comic style writing and the graphics are bold and colorful. The storylines hold the attention of kids and are packed with humor and action. My son has read the entire series 2 or 3 times and my daughter has also read it. I know when I was teaching, it was also popular amongst many of my students. I would highly recommend these books. Dav Pilkey has other series including Captain Underpants and Cat Kid Comic Club. My kids have also read the Cat Kid Comic Club series and have loved those as well.

Itty Bitty Princess Kitty
by Melody Mews & Ellen Stubbing

My 8 year old daughter has read all 14 books of Itty Bitty Princess Kitty. She said the stories are nice and easy to read. She loves that the main character is royalty and that she is a helpful princess. The suggested age group is 5-9 years old. The books are about 115-130 pages and there are cute black and white pictures on almost every page. I would highly recommend for emerging readers!
Wings of Fire
by Tui T. Sutherland

My son has read EVERY. SINGLE. Wings of Fire book written by Tui T. Sutherland. He absolutely fell in love with the adventure that each book takes you on. He has read all of the books listed below and more! My daughter is now getting into them by listening to the audiobooks on our library app. My son is listening to them with her, even though he has read all of them already. I also noticed while on Amazon that the majority of the books are “Teacher Picks“. It doesn’t get any better than that.
